Abstract : The use of interior-point software to solve continuous linear programming is now well established, but other areas of optimization are also feeling the impact of these techniques. We survey a number of areas in which the research is at various levels of maturity, including semidefinite programming, convex quadratic programming, smooth convex programming, nonlinear programming, and integer programming and combinatorial problems. We also mention interesting results obtained from an application to airline crew scheduling.
